MukuKyoto opened in Milan in May 2025 as an outpost of a restaurant group that has run Japanese kitchens in Kyoto for roughly 40 years; three of its Kyoto restaurants have been recognized by the Michelin Guide, including two-star honors. The Milan location sits on Via Giacomo Leopardi, close to Cadorna and Castello Sforzesco.

The kitchen revolves around a 10-seat counter where the chef works in view of guests, moving through a set omakase sequence: aperitivo, a small starter, two sashimi courses, a seasonal assortment, a grilled dish, tempura, a daily specialty, rice and dessert. The omakase is priced at €180 per person, with an optional five-sake pairing bringing the total to €230. A shorter okimari course at €80 covers the opening sequence through the seasonal assortment, after which diners can order freely from the à la carte list of tempura, grilled dishes, fried items, sushi, sashimi and dessert.

For private gatherings, a separate room seats four to six and is positioned for anniversaries or more reserved occasions, distinct from the open counter.

The restaurant is open for dinner from 17:00 to 23:00 most days, closed on Sundays, with one additional Monday closed each month. Reservations run through Tock, and the restaurant recommends booking online ahead of a visit.
