Chef Ishida opened this Nakasu restaurant at age 40, after a decade as head chef at Hatchō-e in nearby Nishinakasu. Earlier training included a ryokan in Saga's Ureshino hot spring district, the Fukuoka restaurant Kaiko, and the Japanese restaurant at the Hakata ANA Hotel. The dinner course, called Suisen, runs ¥11,000 and totals ten dishes built around seafood and produce the chef selects each morning at Nagahama and Yanagibashi markets. A lighter lunch option, priced at ¥6,600 for eight dishes, is also available and is sometimes booked for celebratory lunches such as milestone birthdays or family introductions.
The restaurant seats 56 across counter seats and private rooms spread over its second and third floors, which can be reserved separately for small groups or gatherings of up to 20. Table seating in tatami-style private rooms is noted as comfortable for older guests. The dining room is a four-minute walk from Nakasukawabata Station, served by both the Fukuoka City Subway Airport Line and Hakozaki Line; paid parking is available nearby.
An English menu is offered, along with menus in simplified and traditional Chinese and Korean, and staff who speak English are on hand. The restaurant is closed Sundays and takes both lunch and dinner reservations through Tabelog, though reservations after 10 p.m. require a phone call. Credit cards including Visa, Mastercard, JCB, American Express, and Diners Club are accepted.
